Spring break "takeovers," which are massive gatherings organized on social media, are overwhelming some top destinations and posing dangers.

Ever told a defiant or aggressive student to “calm down” or “be respectful”… and watched absolutely nothing change? Here’s why. In the middle of escalation, abstract words don’t land. “Be respectful” sounds clear to us, but to a dysregulated brain, it’s vague and abstract. When under emotional duress, students need clear, concrete steps. Instead of giving a command like ‘be respectful’, build a behavior response flow. Break the behavior into 2–3 concrete actions. For example, 1. Raise your hand.
