Once fully ripe these pods explode when touched, shooting the many seeds of this invasive plant far away from the parent plant, leading to its spread. These seeds are a nutty and crunchy snack that can be used fresh, dried or toasted. The pod seen in the video was not fully ripe yet, hence not exploding immediately.
